Changes to After-Hours Service
Waiheke Medical Centre and Piritahi Hau Ora have been informed that the Waiheke Oranga Urgent After-Hours Service will no longer deliver from the Red Cross building in Oneroa from Friday, August 30th, 2024. They are working at a rapid pace to consider long-term options to provide urgent after-hours services to the Waiheke community.
For people who require medical attention after hours, care is still available.
Waiheke Medical Centre has decided to extend its opening hours for this weekend only at this stage. Our opening hours are as follows:
Friday, August 30th: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, August 31st: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday, September 1st: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Outside of these hours, you can access an after-hours appointment with a GP or Nurse Practitioner by calling Ka Ora Telecare on 0800 252 672 to chat with a nurse/kaiawhina or to get a virtual GP appointment. This means GPs can provide patients with scripts and refer patients to Hato Hone St John for urgent care. Please note that prescriptions can only be filled when the pharmacy is open. You can also phone Healthline on 0800 611 116 for free health advice 24/7 or your general practice team to discuss your situation.
REMEMBER: If you or a member of your whānau are injured or experiencing severe symptoms, you must call 111.
The primary care services of Ostend Medical, Piritahi Hau Ora and Waiheke Medical Centre will continue their current primary care and social and community services. Please refer directly to your registered provider for details.
We respectfully ask that any frustration or concern you may have because of these changes not be directed at our frontline team and/or doctors and nurses. They are here to help you and have no influence on decisions made independently outside of primary healthcare.
